Plot of the novel I worked a lot on the actual plot. By the end I had filled three pages and it still wasn't complete. But it was full of events, twists, surprises, mysteries, adventures and everything a reader expects from a fantasy novel. Writing the plot of the novel gave me the ideas to develop other points of the same and above all to note down those points on which I had to research well. There was a kind of schedule that I followed, actually more in my mind than on paper. On paper I had made some notes on how the story should develop, but it was by writing the plot that new ideas about it were born.
Documentation As I have mentioned several times in other posts, the documentation for the novel is extensive. I started writing down some books to read, relating to the state in which the events take place, and one of which I had already started reading. Little by little I wrote down everything that was useful for me to know: what the state was called at the time of my story; whether foreigners could enter and in what ways; what the Phone Number Data traditional clothes were like; the spelling of names; means of transport; endemic plants and animals; conformation of the territory; historical reality at the time of my story; customs and traditions; mythology and folklore; historical state maps; etc. As I progressed with the writing of the plot, I found points on which I had to inform myself, so that the whole setting was complete. Character sheets In parallel with this work - plot and documentation - I started creating character sheets.
They are certainly useful not to describe them to the reader as they enter the story, but to have in mind what a character is like, what he thinks, what his past is and what his expectations are. The name and surname, how he dresses, what role he has in the story, even a physical description that can obviously be useful: a series of information that would make the secret services envious, but which is very useful to the writer. Subdivision of the novel's material This is one of the most difficult jobs, in my opinion. How to divide the subject? Or, more clearly: divide it into parts of so many chapters each? Divide it only into chapters? How to number them? Give it a title? Should you include some sort of summary in each chapter or not? To add quotes taken from other books or not?
